The utilization of 3D scanning enables object reconstruction through specialized software (reverse engineering), resulting in editable 3D files compatible with various 3D modeling applications (CAD).

Alternatively, we can employ 3D scanning on a casting, a model, or any existing component to conduct dimensional checks by superimposing the scan onto the original 3D file. This procedure highlights any identified discrepancies. For instance, in the images below, the 3D file we used for milling the model (initial) was superimposed onto the 3D scan of the casting (result), and variations were detected and illustrated using software.
